Little people, Big world

Greetings Earthlings, we meet again.

Two days ago, the sister wanted to drink some coffee so badly that we had to have an impromptu planning. And we all readily agreed to go to the City. I mean, who doesn't love the City?

So yesterday we had an adventure at the heart of Melbourne. We had a couple of food and coffee tasting sessions at the Brother Baba Budan cafe and at The Hardware Sociéte. (no official website for this cafe but they really don't need one)

Both of the cafes were highly recommended where BBB is recognised for their freshly brewed coffee while Hardware Sociéte is known for its good food and service. I've been to THS once and I'm so glad I brought my sisters along this time because they really loved every single nugget of it. Therefore, I'm thankful for that.

Perhaps a little more information about both cafes?

Brother Baba Budan is a very small but creative cafe. It has no visible signboard but you can easily recognise them from their interiors. Many hanging chairs are fixed up onto the ceiling with a rustic feel as sacks (instead of plastic bags) of coffee beans, table lamps, hanging light bulbs, chalkboards for their menu are displayed across the small shop. Only cakes, pastries and coffee are served here so don't expect to fill your stomach here. More people would opt for takeaways. This is because the cafe is so small, with 15 to 20 people in it at a time is already very overwhelming.

The Hardware Sociéte cafe has simple features that includes mainly the colours of white and yellow. Hanging lightbulbs are also one of the main things you will see there. What really makes this cafe so popular is probably because of their insanely good service and vibe. The chefs especially seem to really love what they are doing and always cooperate well with each other. Each dish that is being sent out to serve always ends with a word of "beautiful!" mentioned by the head chef. These guys would sometimes interact with their customers as the kitchen is merely a small open area. The food is fantastic as well. A savory all-time favourite is the baked eggs served on a simple wooden board, in which the egg is cooked inside a small little pot that has different fillings in it. Some bread drizzled with olive oil is served up at the side. A sweet all-time favourite would no doubt be the Fried Brioche. The menu changes all the time for this dish as the chefs are always reinventing.

We had the:
- Omelette with saffron potatoes, confit tomatoes, persian fetta and herbs,
- Baked eggs with chorizo sausage, cherry tomato & thyme salsa, crunchy almonds and pata de mulo ewes milk cheese, and
- The sweet special of the day: Fried Brioche with raspberry, mango, custard topped with crumbled meringue.

What a mouthful.

And....finally after our scrumptious lunch, what better way to end the trip than to sit and relax on the grass with the State Library behind us. We can definitely still enjoy nature amidst the urbanisation.

Good food and good company never fails. Love them both so dearly.

Till next time, do take care :o)

Chubby cheeks unite. x
