"Save on the cost of materials while re-using our resources!"
Hello.
It's pretty uncommon to find a shed in Singapore, none that I've heard of. And it's even rarer to find a shed which sells recycled materials. Yes, in other words, junk. Junk which may seem useless at first but with a lil bit of imagination, you can make wonders out of these.
So today I went on a lil excursion trip with a couple of my classmates to two of these (wonderful) sheds. Our teacher had assigned us to visit these places and perhaps gather some materials for our assignments. When we went in, these sheds had tons of barrels that have recycled materials placed in them. Some of them included clean glass bottles, foam pads, plastic cups, cones, twisty rubber-like toys, sponges, clean facial wash bottles, scribble papers, old paintings, post cards, plastic beads, spools, rubber rings....you probably should have a rough idea of what it is now! It was a pity I couldn't take a photo of some of these materials, however, if you can guess, they are basically just selling items that people donate in which they consider these simple everyday materials as useless, or put bluntly: trash.
However many little kiddies visited the place with their mums and they managed to find something they love and can create something out of these materials. This just proves that as children, their creative juices are never ending because their senses of judgements and restrictions have yet to be fully developed. This is one big thing I admire children and as much as they rely on us to teach them about this world, there are many lil things which we, as adults can learn from them too, and this is one of them.
{Therefore, my passion for children has never been more alive everyday}
Here are some pictures I snapped during my mini excursion. Both inside and outside of the shed (known as Reverse Art Truck) is truly amazing. It may appear dirty and crazily redundant at first glance, this shed is probably one of the reasons why Mother Earth is still surviving despite all the trash we throw out everyday. With the help of this shed and others in this industry around Melbourne, they are truly respected for making this world we're living in a little better. So kudos to you guys and your hard effort!
I'll come back again. Wait for me.
PS: I really really really love buntings. What's with this crazy obsession?
