"Since 1955, Moomba has been a festival marked by both continuity and change. Moomba has striven to remain relevant and vibrant over the years, while celebrating and building on the rich heritage of being one of the world’s longest standing community festivals."
(Sorry I'm just not in the position to provide an apt description since I've only been here for a year now)
It was my first time participating in this vibrant event and I must say it was really an eye-opener as the spirit of Melburnians can be seen. From ridiculous teens barking like dogs (no joke) along the streets of Flinders and Swanston to a large group of guys singing cheers in awesome unplanned synchronization, it was a really fantastic day. The weather was being so kind to us as well as Mr Sunshine was shining bright at 36 degrees Celsius. However, the only negative point was our whole family couldn't come and it was only lil sis and I who attended this fun filled event.
Had a nuggets & fries munch pack from Lord of the Fries (Vegetarian nuggets omg such cheaters), slurpees from 7-11, our first toffee apple in our entire lives for only $2 and we won a Rastafarian banana named Lezza Williams (pronounced 'Lisa') that has soft beautiful Loreal hair and smokes joint. We had so much fun soaking in the goodness of Mr. Sunshine.
Though we didn't catch the Moomba parade (it happened at 11am yesterday and I woke up at 10.30), take any rides (the partial reason was that I was being cowardly) and didn't stay for the fireworks at night (because the time to travel from home to the city was approximately 45 minutes), it was still an amazing day. Sis was really satisfied with Lezza and she was so happy cuddling it that it made everything so worthwhile even though it costs us $20. Her smile made me happy. & because our poor second sissy couldn't attend Moomba due to revision at home, we bought her a bag of fairy floss, which did cheer her up. That made me happy too. Hopefully our whole family can attend Moomba next year.
The first and the last pictures began and ended with Mother Nature because I believe without a beautiful her, we wouldn't have such celebrations. Melbourne is also beautiful.
(Now back to the reality of placement in the child care centre, just 9 more days and then Sydney adventure with Mich soon) Positivity triumphs the bad.
Have a great week ahead everyone :-)
